Lake Nicaragua
The largest lake in Nicaragua has different names: Indian tribes called it Cocibolca, the Spanish conquerors called "The sweet sea", in Granada was called the Lake of Granada, and today is generally known as 'Nicaragua Lake'. Its area is 8.264 square kilometers and is located in the south east of the country (near the Pacific coast). This oval-shaped lake is not contaminated, relatively, despite some serious environmental problems that represent real threats to their future.
