LAKE NICARAGUA
One of the largest lakes in Nicaragua is called the Nicaragua Lake. This lake has had many different names over the past years.
One of the most practical ways to utilize this lake is for fishing purposes. There are many different fish that live in this lake. People come to this lake to find fish for dinner or other meals.
The freshness of the water from the lake has been used for cleaning purposes in the past years. You can use it to clean your clothes, your body or anything else. You can also use this water for drinking purposes as well. This lake mimics the look of a sea for many different reasons. The first reason is the large waves it offers. This lake also has large and heavy storms just like a sea. The reason is it not like a sea is because of its depth. Most seas are extremely deep towards the middle. This lake only drops down to about 13 meters at the deepest point. There are many different rivers that feed into this lake. Another source if inflow for this lake is the rainfall. A great thing about Lake Nicaragua is the different port cities it has. There are 4 different port cities located near and on this lake. These port cities are San Jorge, San Carlos, San Migeulito, and Granada. The only downfall about this lake is the poor transportation it offers. It is a reasonably large lake but there aren’t very many transportation services to and from it.
One thing that makes Lake Nicaragua a beautiful body of water is the fact that a chain of volcanoes cuts directly through it. Because of these volcanoes, many different islands have been created throughout the lake. One of the most famous islands this lake offers is called Ometepe. There are two volcanoes stationed on this remarkable island. These volcanoes are named Cecepcion and Maderas. If you are into hiking and different adventures, this island would be a perfect place for you to take a vacation. You will be able to hike up these volcanoes to see magnificent views of the island and the volcano itself. You can also enjoy surfing the beautiful waves and even kayaking through the water. This island is filled with luscious and beautiful rainforests and tropical forests. There is another island nearby named Zapatera. If you are an avid Survivor watcher, you know that those were the names of the tribes in one season. This island resembles the Ometepe Island very much. There were many items and artifacts found on this island that are now on display in different museums. This island is filled with untouched nature so there aren’t many places to stay for vacation. There are a couple of lodging areas for visitors to enjoy this beautiful piece of land.
There are many different islets that call Lake Nicaragua their home. There is a set that would be worth your while to explore and check out. This set of islets is known as Solentiname archipelago. This set of islets includes roughly 36 individual islands based around the volcanic origin. Some of these islands have community life and people and other islands have nothing but trees and wildlife. If you are a nature lover, these islands would be a perfect getaway for you. You will be able to experience the islands nature first hand when you visit this set of islets. These islands are not too far apart from each other. Some of them are close enough for you to swim back and forth. Others might require a boat ride or a kayak ride. Either way, you will be able to enjoy the natural atmosphere and the tropical islands no matter where you are.
